Select Board Places Ballot Question on May 19 Election — 4-1 Vote
On a 4-1 vote, the Yarmouth Select Board has placed a citizen-initiated ballot question on the May 19, 2026 town election. The question originated from a petition carrying just 35 signatures — representing 0.15% of Yarmouth’s 22,842 registered voters.
Select Board Chair Tracy Post cast the lone dissenting vote, questioning whether a petition from fewer than four-tenths of one percent of voters warranted placement on the ballot.
The Yarmouth Republican Town Committee encourages all voters to research this question carefully before Election Day. We will be publishing detailed analysis of the question, its origins, and its potential financial impact on Yarmouth taxpayers in the coming weeks.
Key dates: Annual Town Meeting concluded April 28. Election Day is May 19. Know your vote.
